Break my heart so I can know just what it's like to be alone. My mom would ask, and I'd tell how you did the deed. Just do it now.

Hands 03:04
I asked father for a hand in purchasing a plot of land. A modest home is what we chose. A mortgage loan; we'd soon forclose. I was blind. Plans are blind and impossible to fail. I woke up only to find. My train of dreams had just derailed. I asked Rachael for her hand in marriage, life, a family and got down on bended knee inside the restaurant with glee. Had it down. A hand-me-down was impossible to fail. I stood up and there I drowned while my future fiancee set sail. I asked mother for her hand in comforting a broken man. And for hours, it seemed, there I cried endless showers. The last goodbye. I was blind. Love is blind and impossible to fail. I woke up only to find My relationship had recently set sail.

A graduate I finally had the means to do it: to live beyond my means. Now I kick myself for it. i got fired amidst a tide of grief, now i'm just tired and losing sleep. it's a vicious, rabid, sea. I grew a beard and took my old guitar and wandered here and slept out in my car and i wept in the backseat. for you were not with me. now all i do is breathe. I barged in your living room and then I began to sing and sing. And I thanked my audience. And i confronted you. "i don't want you! i don't want anything to do with you! so leave me be i'm happy. we're happy. we're happy."

Liliana 02:36
Give me a break: Of course you're married. This screen does tell me. Dream girl, fantasy. "What?" "Nothing." "What?" "Nothing." "What?" "Nothing." Give me a break, of course you love him. What am I to do? He's what you fancy. "What?" "Nothing." "What?" "Nothing." "What?" "Nothing." Give me a break, Liliana, and please take off your scarf. It's distracting. "What?" "Nothing." "What?" "Nothing." "What?" "Nothing."

Let You Go 03:36
A border state and a freeway light. I don't know where I'll be sleeping tonight. Probably driving more. Radio towers dot the land. Satellites and the AM band: this is my dream. The road and the wheels scream, the wheels scream: "You and me were meant to be and I know I won't let you go without a fight, alright? I just know I won't let you go." A mountain range and a field of grass, The desert plains and a river pass. This is it. The southwest landscape is my future home, And cross these plains, baby I will roam. This is my land. I won't forget when it spoke, I mean it said: "You and me were meant to be and I know I won't let you go without a fight, alright? I just know I won't let you go." I met a girl on the internet. We had a date at the laundromat. Like dirty clothes, I changed and I couldn't wait to give her a ring. Begrudgingly had a small wedding. This is the dream. A long road, my heart screams and I scream: "You and me were meant to be and I know I won't let you go without a fight, alright? I just know I won't let you go."

I picture you Sitting all alone In a nice, old-fashioned home On the plains. You ring a bell, And we look in the well. We look for some Unexpected things. The girl I know Would walk with me through the mountains. And we’d sing Oh lord, we’d sing And hand in hand We’d cross a bridge And snow. The girl I know. I’d propose to you If we were alone In that nice old-fashioned home On the plains. I’d give a ring. A simple wooden thing, I found one day While searching near The well.

"are you missing your boy?" "i think so" she says. "do you miss illinois?" "i think not" she says. but i think so....i think so. i hear the irish fight. what do you know? i thought they were neutral. the illini fight too. did you know that? i fight for you. this song is...it's not much, but my heart fights for a loving touch. this town is is no match for the brown of the emerald isle's shore. i love you but you love him more. "are you missing your boy?" "yes indeed" she cries. alone in illinois i, sit and sigh. i think i...i love her.

about

I recorded this album for a spring 2009 tour before I moved from Illinois to Tennessee. I hand-painted fifty copies with lofty hopes of selling them from IL to WY and back. I played one show in Iowa, and on my way to see a buddy in Dubuque, I totally 180'd my Buick on an insanely snowy road, and thanked my lucky stars I safely ended up in a ditch with no damage to me or the car. After a cop dropped me at a local hotel, I decided to quit while I was ahead (alive), and I ran home with my tail between my legs. At any rate, I've still got a ton of them left. :D

If you care, I put lyrics and a description of each track up. The album name was not supposed to be a "me and her" pun. Half the record was recorded with a crappy computer microphone and the other half was recorded with a better mic.
